The Muse & artists Whitney Dahlberg & Courtney Prahl are launching the 12th annual Lend a Hand Art Auction! This year we have chosen The Frederick Center as our beneficiary.

The Frederick Center’s mission is to support and advocate for LGBTQ+ community members and their families. Incorporated in 2013, The Frederick Center hosts Frederick’s annual Pride celebration and offers a variety of support groups and educational resources aimed at providing advocacy and opportunity for our LGBTQ+ community.

-For 2023, our theme is Adding Color to The World.  Lend a Hand by creating a piece of art inspired by color. At The Muse, we will have a selection of paint sample strips. When you pick up your canvas, we’ll have you select a color strip. Use your color as inspiration for your artwork contribution!

-People of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to participate, and all mediums are accepted. Art will be auctioned off in the fall with all sales going to the charity.  The closing date of the auction will be during First Saturday, Oct 7th from 5-9pm.

-A $20 nonrefundable entry fee includes the canvas & goes directly to The Frederick Center.

-All pieces must be delivered to The Muse, 19 N Market St, no later than Aug 30th at 5 pm.

-By submitting your work to The Muse, you are agreeing to allow The Muse to take full ownership over the piece until the time of sale.  That includes the allowance of use for marketing purposes.

What is Lend a Hand? Lend a Hand is an annual charity art auction sponsored by The Muse and local artists Whitney Dahlberg and Courtney Prahl. Each year, we create a theme inspired by our chosen non-profit beneficiary, and we invite the community to create artwork based on the theme using canvases supplied by The Muse. Purchasing a canvas is how community members can register to participate, and the $20 canvas fee goes directly to the beneficiary. After all completed canvases are returned to The Muse, we then mount them as an exhibit and hold a silent auction, with all auction proceeds going to the beneficiary. Last year, we raised over $9000 total for our beneficiary! So, if you've been itching to lend a hand to those in need, but weren't sure how to get involved, this is your chance! Create a beautiful work of art and help a local non-profit at the same time! All ages and skill levels are encouraged to register!
